Trash, Cherish and Fashion Shoot
Last Friday we had a Cherish and Trash shoot in the country and at the beach, had an absolutely great time. Weather was super and the water was warm: ) then on Sunday a Cherish, Trash and Fashion shoot, had super time again with some of the sunniest weather we’ve had in a while. See What I mean.

Wedding Fayre
Looking forward to the
wedding fayre tomorrow at Lochside House Hotel. If
you’re attending please come and brows our albums and
have a chat about your wedding plans.
Web site is due for an update within the next few
months or so. Wee bit busy at the moment so it’ll
have to wait a bit. Should be easier to navigate and
will have more to offer in terms of our products and
services. Older products sadly are being phased out
or scaled down to meet changing demands. Traditional
albums will still be available but to special order
only when existing stocks are gone. Increasingly we
have seen more interest in storybook and contemporary
albums than in our traditional range. We will be
offering more storybook albums, and books either in
place of or as part of a wedding package, samples
will be available later in the year. We’ll be
offering these products showcasing storybook style
weddings at the SECC later in the Autumn. So if your
interested in an album with a difference and you want
the full day covered then come and speak to us on our
stand tomorrow.
We’re getting lots of enquiries for wedding
photography availability this year! Yes, we still
have some dates available so please enquire, however
speak to us soon as they are disappearing fast.
New Products
We are now offering training sessions to any couples who are not sure about what they want from their wedding photographer. Naturally some of us are shy and like to fade into the background. However this is impossible to do on your wedding day as you’ll both be the centre of attention. So why not sign up for a photoshoot with a difference! We’ll show you how to pose for all those ‘natural’ pictures that you’ve seen in magazines. Don’t tell anyone but most of the ‘natural’ pictures you’ve seen in magazines are carefully staged. So if your nervous and hate getting a camera pointed at you then this session is for you, yes seriously. It will give you confidence and allow you to be natural and less stiff looking in your wedding pictures. The cost is half price at the moment at £69 and you can take home all the ideas and practise them in the comfort of your own home.
Why are we doing this? So far we’ve offered this service to some couples on an adhoc basis. From a photographers point of view it is a delight to work with any one who has undergone some of the training we have given them. Everyone shows more confidence and more importantly they genuinely enjoy their day; after all it will be one less thing to worry about. We originally began this working with new inexperienced models, training young ladies how to pose and project themselves for the camera. This has been highly successful and several of them have been involved in various photoshoots with at least one model signing with an agency. We expect that several others, if they are determined enough will follow suit. Just like Suzie below!

SECC Scottish Wedding Show

Just imagine your big day, you’ve spent lots of time and a whole lot of effort to make everything perfect. Florist, venue, cards, cake ‘the full Monty’. Then you discover that the choice of photographer wasn’t quite what you expected. You maybe thought it was the one area where you could cut a few corners, after all ‘who would notice’. A friend said he or she would do it, or perhaps they knew someone who could help after all they had a good camera. Oops, things went a wee bit wrong, some of the pictures didn’t come out. ‘the flash wasn’t working’, ‘the sun was in the wrong place’, ‘the bridesmaid was told not to move’. Now you’re asking yourself was it worth the least expensive option, after all ‘who would notice’! Better get in touch soon just in case! We’ll certainly make sure this doesn’t happen to you! Wedding Dress Shoot
Had a great but cold day at St Andrew’s in the Square with our models Zoe, Lesley and Sophie. Well done girls the pics are brilliant! Thanks should also go to Sian for the makeup and Ruth for the hair, Moira and Bill from Glitterati, Andy, Jamie and May for their help and assistance and finally thanks should also be given to Veronica who organises the venue for weddings and other functions at St Andrew’s in the Square. They all did a brilliant job.
We were firmly on the tourist route in Glasgow and while I was photographing the girls, the tourists were photographing us! One or two of the locals were also on hand to give us their support during the shoot.
Price Increases
As from the 1st of January all prices will rise by around 5%. Due to material cost increases from our suppliers. This will be the first increase in 2 years, it should have happened several months ago but I’ve now held my prices for as long as I can. Price increases will only affect new clients booking on or after Jan 1st 2010 who haven’t as yet booked with us. If you’ve booked or intend booking soon then make sure you do so before Jan the 1st other wise the new prices will apply, sorry no exceptions. Remember when you book our prices remain fixed for your wedding photography package. They only increase if you upgrade to a bigger album or more expensive package. However if you upgrade after the 1st Jan then you’ll have to add around 5% extra onto any upgrade prices available today.
SECC Wedding Show
We had an absolutely
sensational show on both Saturday and Sunday. Loads
and loads of enquiries so much so that we nearly ran
out of Brochures on Saturday and my apologies to
those on Sunday for the rather poor quality of the
brochures you received. We had to print lots more as
quickly as possible on Saturday evening to cope. Even
though we printed more, lots more even they
disappeared and were flying off the stand! Next time
I’ll think of a number and double it

I managed to sneak away on Sunday and take some
pictures of the catwalk show for Glitterati, I took a few pics of
the guys as well, just for practise! New camera
EOS 5Dmk2 super quality even at high ISO for those
of you who might be interested. The shots above
are all available light, this camera has already
been used at weddings and allows us to do HD Video
of selected parts of the wedding and is great for
the first dance at the reception when the light is
very low, allowing us to capture the action and
without spoiling the atmosphere with flash! We are
now taking bookings for 2011 and will be offering
free multimedia DVD’s to any clients booking
before the 1st of January 2011. The DVD’s contain
selected clips from the wedding shot with the
above camera.
We’d also like to express our thanks to Caitlin our
lovely assistant on Sunday who helped out on our
stand and was super! Thanks Caitlin you’re a star
even though you eat all the cake you promised me, the
lemon flavour was probably delicious
Next Wedding Show is at the end of January. The
Ayrshire Wedding Show is the biggest and best in
Ayrshire and hope to meet you all there.
Lochside Wedding Fayre
We had a lot of interest from prospective brides and we had a great day meeting you all. If your going to the SECC please come and have a talk and another look at our albums. We’ll also be showing some of our ‘Trash the Dress’ pics along with some HD Video clips taken from a few of our weddings. At the moment for those who are interested we are providing them free of charge to all clients who book a Story Book or Contemporary album; this year only! All our offers will be once again available at the SECC for the duration of the show and for a week or two longer if you email us and express an interest. We know you don’t like to be rushed.
Please keep in mind we do a pre-wedding shoot, where we learn you to pose like a super model. This is now so much an essential part of our photography it would be difficult now not to do it, the difference for brides’ is ‘night and day’ on the day of the wedding. Your more relaxed and in control. We also fix our prices if you book, no increases unless you change your package! Now ask yourself what do others do?

Here’s a pic featuring the shovel. Fi enjoyed this, particularly the burying bit. A bit worrying though for someone who’s training to be a doctor! Then again she might decide to specialize in pathology ; ) Or perhaps follow in the steps of Burke and Hare. Only kidding Fi, thanks for the shoot.
PS it’s not easy to see the legs to the left of the shovel in such a small picture.
Trash the Dress
The weather was at times horrible, wet and a wee bit windy, at least the wind was warm. We all had fun, even though the photographer wasn’t happy with the weather - c’est la vie! Had a great time though, Leanne and Fiona were wonderful. Colin ‘there’s been a murder Jim’ ‘the body’ was a great help and played ‘the body’ well. He would have been even better if we could have floated him out to sea face down though! Here’s a couple of pictures from the shoot. The shovel stars in at least one of the pics, it’ll be posted as soon as I have more time.
Model
Has agreed to take part in a shoot coming off very soon. She’s tall, slim and very beautiful and would love to do a ‘Trash the Dress shoot’. We’ll keep you posted, oh, and the shovel arrived yesterday.
Photoshoots
We are pleased to say that Lynsey Ferguson is; depending on availability; going to make sure that the makeup for a forth coming Trash the Dress shot is spot on and just so. The past few shoots have proved to me that when photographing pretty young ladies (tough job but some ones got to do it : ) the makeup has to be perfect. Shiny faces just don’t cut it, the eyes have to keep your attention and make you look and look again! lady full of self confidence and is an absolute

Trash the Dress and Cherish your Dress
So far we have five models, two dresses a car a rather nice Porsche 911 (mine) and a shovel. We need a little more and then it all happens. The pictures will feature in the new website FT Models and a few will feature at the Scottish Wedding Show at the SECC. If you’re wondering what the shovel is for then you’ll just have to wait and see!
Buying Prints
To make things simpler for friends and guests to purchase prints, we will now be putting all weddings on-line with buy it now purchases available. You can now purchase prints etc in a variety of sizes. All payments are made by credit or debt card via Paypal and the prints are posted out to you. This service will only be available when the Bride and Groom have seen their pictures and will not normally be available before they return from Honeymoon. To access these images you must email us and fill in the ‘Recent Weddings’ form on our website here.

I also had time to play with a few ‘toys’ - like a £15,000 digital Hasselblad H3DII, yes you’ve read it right that is 15 thousand pounds, before you add on the £4600 lens that was attached! The verdict - absolutely stunning! The small image shown does not do justice to the quality of the original image.

Album Updates
We now offer lower prices as from today 11th of February on some of the following products.
Bellissimo and Contemporary Albums.
Some of these albums are now offered with standard layouts as an alternative to our normal bespoke layouts. Contemporary albums with 24 or 30 pages will be offered in standard or bespoke layouts. Contemporary albums with 36 or 40 pages remain as bespoke layouts only.
Our Bellisimo Range will be available with standard or bespoke layouts in the following sizes only - 8 x 6, 12 x 8, 12 x 12 and 12 x 16. we no longer provide 6 x 6 albums.
Due to a faster turn around and lower overheads we can pass on a saving of 15%, making these albums very competitive indeed. Prices have been updated in our Prices page and in out Payments page, pictures to follow.
More New Products
Website Update
The website will have a new section - namely New Products. It won’t be available immediately, still to finalise a few things. However I can say that we will be offering HD Video as part of some packages. It’s really for those clients who’d like to have some video but not a full wedding video. Presently we are looking for clients who’d like to take part in a trial, subject to certain conditions. You must be getting married this year and purchasing one of our Contemporary or Storybook albums. If you are interested please get in touch.
